Rhinoceros (Rhino 3D) – Professional 3D Modeling Software

New

The rhinoceros, or rhino, is a large, herbivorous mammal known for its distinctive horn or horns made of keratin. Five species exist today, but all are threatened by poaching for their horns and by habitat loss.

Overview:

Rhinoceros 3D (commonly known as Rhino) is one of the most powerful and versatile 3D modeling tools used worldwide by architects, industrial designers, engineers, and artists. Known for its precision, flexibility, and ability to handle complex surfaces, Rhino is widely adopted across industries such as architecture, product design, automotive, jewelry, and animation.
With support for NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines), Rhino allows users to create mathematically precise curves, surfaces, and solids that are impossible to achieve with traditional polygon-based modeling software. Rhinoceroses are large, herbivorous mammals distinguished by their massive size, protective skin, and prominent horns. The five surviving species are native to Africa and Asia, each with its own unique physical and behavioral traits.

Key Features

Body: Rhinos are characterized by their robust, cylindrical body, large heads, short legs, and short tails. They are considered megafauna, with some species, like the white rhino, being the second-largest land animal after the elephant.

Skin: Their thick, protective skin is made of dense, crosslinked collagen fibers, forming plate-like folds, particularly at the shoulders and thighs. It is typically gray or brown in color. Rhinos coat themselves in mud or dust to cool off and protect their skin from sunburns and insects.

Horns: One of the most recognizable features of a rhino is its horn or horns. The horn is not attached to the skull and lacks a bony core. Instead, it is made of keratin, the same fibrous protein found in human hair and nails, and grows continuously throughout the rhino's life.

Senses: Rhinos have poor eyesight but compensate with an excellent sense of smell and acute hearing. Their ears can swivel independently to pinpoint the source of a sound.

Speed: Despite their bulk, rhinos are surprisingly agile and can run at high speeds. The black rhino, for example, can reach speeds of about 45 km/h (30 miles per hour).

African species

White Rhino: The largest rhino species, the white rhino has a distinctively broad, square-shaped mouth for grazing on grasses. They are more social than other rhinos and may be found in groups.

Black Rhino: The black rhino is a browser with a prehensile, pointed upper lip that allows it to grasp and tear leaves and twigs from bushes. Though named the black rhino, its skin is a gray or brown color.

Asian species

Greater One-Horned Rhino: Also known as the Indian rhino, this species has a single horn and a thick, armor-like skin that appears plated due to its folded skin.

Javan Rhino: This is one of the rarest large mammals in the world and has a single horn.

Sumatran Rhino: The smallest and hairiest of all the rhino species, the Sumatran rhino is the only Asian rhino with two horns.
